It might be "summer" in Australia, but it sure isn't over here. But there is a souvenir at stake, and cachers do silly things for Silly Souvenirs (tm).
We'll meet at the posted coordinates in Ridge Road County Park at 1130am on Saturday, January 27.
Speaking of "park", I have no idea which parking lot will be open on Jan 27, or how deep the snow will be on site; so if in doubt, koala a bit early, and emu out how to saltie where you need to gator!
And here's the twist: If you have a gas/propane/fuel fired portable backpacking stove, please bring it. And please bring the ingredients for whatever you like to heat up or prepare on site. Glühwein (non-alc, please) is perfectly acceptable. So is hot cider. Or soup. Or stew. Or chili. Or whatever else. Don't go overboard with the quantities, keep an eye on the (likely very rare) will-attend logs. The hope/idea is that we can each sample a spoonful of each other's piping hot concoctions, before we congratulate ourselves for being awesome, and then hurry back to the comfortably heated seat cushions of our cars.
Providing a hot sample snack or drink is not a logging requirement. But you sure get bragging rights if you do. And if you make your attire or cooking Aussie themed, even more power to you! Prizes will be awarded for the categories "Most Aussie", "Most Elaborate" and "Mostest Crazyest". And rumor has it that you also might get a new cache or two to chase in Ridge Road Park!
The event ends at 1pm or once the prizes have been awarded and FTF first digs on potential new caches have been raffled off.
Caveat: We are exceptional guests in Ridge Road Park way way out of season, which means that (a) we can't use the charcoal grills and (b) all the restrooms are closed. If you need to "go", please take your car, and drive to a gas station or coffee shop down on Central Ave in Hartsdale.
