Geocache Description:

Walkabout - A journey that might appear aimless but addresses the need to be immersed in nature.

What weather will we walk with when we celebrate Australia Day and geocaching's version of it in the northern hemisphere? Join your local geocaching friends between 3:00pm and 3:30pm at Dorwart Park on Good Drive. Group picture at 3:15pm or so.

You'll also earn the Australia Day souvenir.

Posted coords are for parking area that is big enough for many cars. Good Drive should be accessible from many directions. This is a snow or sunshine event, but if the weather is truly frightful, we will probably cancel. I have been in the parking lot in the snow.

After the photo and camaraderie, feel free to do a walkabout in the winter wonderland in the park where there are at least 11 geocaches (I haven't figured out how to put one in the dog park play area which seems to be the only space available).

Be sure to check out the online portion of my Digi-Tour of Australia (GC7GCCN) cache for a digital tour of some (mostly) natural wonders of Australia. You'll want to solve the online puzzle to get the coordinates before coming to the park for the event.

Signal the Frog mentioned several caching hot spots in Australia in a blog post. Check it out.

Two other Australia-themed caches created for this event: Down Under(GC7G9X2) and Aussie Animals(GC7G9WW)

We had about 60 people attend. Thank you so much for coming out on a damp Sunday afternoon. Picture includes many of the people attending but not everyone. I didn't manage to greet and chat with everybody. The music was by John Williamson from his Anthems - A Celebration of Australia.

Group picture.
