En la cuidad de Valparaíso, además de los ascensores, grafitis y murales, lo que más se encuentra son escaleras abundando con los colores del puerto. Hay escalinatas que cuentan con solo un par de peldaños a la entrada de muchas casas y hay escaleras de todos los largos imaginables conectando el plan con los cerros (muchas veces ubicadas al costado de algún ascensor) o también comunicando un cerro con otro. La mayoría posee peldaños ornamentados o coloridos y sus paredes laterales casi siempre contienen inmensos murales o grafitis que regocijan la vista y hacen mas alegre el esfuerzo de subir.
In Valparaíso, in addition to the elevators, graffiti and murals, what is most eye-catching are stairs abounding with the colors of the port. There are stairs that have only a couple of steps to the entrance of many houses and there are stairs of all imaginable lengths connecting the city's lower level with its hills (often those are even located next to an elevator) or also connecting one hill to another. Most stairs have colorful, decorated or mosaicked steps and their side walls almost always contain huge murals or graffiti that rejoice the view and make the effort of climbing up more cheerful.

Comunica la calle Serrano del Plan de Valparaíso con la parte baja del Cerro Cordillera, terminando en plena Plazuela Eleuterio Ramirez. La foto la muestra antes de su restauración del año 2015, pero aún no ha disminuido el desafío de subirla. Located next to the Cordillera Elevator, the popular José Ignacio Cienfuegos stairs are one of the steepest in the city. They connect Serrano street on the base level to the lower part of Cerro Cordillera, finishing in the middle of Plazuela Eleuterio Ramirez. The photo is from before the 2015 restoration, but the challenge to climb them has not decreased since then.
