Mirkwood is a mythical forest. Look it up on google and read all about it. Giant spiders and demogorgons may be lurking near by.
I always liked to hike in this area since I moved to this town. There have been caches in this area in the past but they floated off with the flood of 2016. I have decided to revive this location as it is an interesting area to explore.
To put it bluntly this is not for the faint of heart but should be easy for the hardcore cacher. Cache is about 10-12' above ground to avoid the flooding this area is capable of. I weigh 250 lbs and I am able to reach this one without killing myself. My daughter can reach this one as well. You will be looking for a camo tube about 4" in diameter and about 8" long. There is a cord that attaches the cache to a small stick but you should not have to unhook the cord from the stick. Container unscrews to open the bottom but the contents will not spill out. Original contents are small log tube, small skateboard, pencil, and moisture absorbing packets. Make sure to place back exactly where it was found using the natural camoflage found in the tree.
If having trouble with the coordinates look for barb wire on the property line on the side of the park and you won't have any problems.
Edit: Went to check on this and I could see the cache sticking out. Decided to use the same tree but this one is no longer partially visible from the ground. Congratulations to Ges613 for the FTF!!
