A chance to blow away those cobwebs, and start the new year's caching in style, with a ramble round Apedale with fellow cachers!
I held this event last year but unfortunately caching was off the agenda as the weather was bad, I'll try and order in better weather this year (and also try not to have bronchitis this time!).
The event is a flash mob in the carpark of the Heritage Centre, which will be 12 - 12.30pm, then anyone who wants to go for a group walk in lovely countryside, with a bunch of friendly, like minded individuals can do so, maybe even picking up a few caches en route.
For those who have not visited Apedale before, it is a country park on the edge of Newcastle under Lyme, on the site of a former pit which has now been transformed. Walking to some of the higher parts of the country park give a fantastic view over the surrounding area. There are plenty of caches up there (it was one of the first series I tackled, it took me a good 5-6 days caching as many took me a long time as a new cacher with a not great GPS).
Parking is found just before reaching the coords, there is also alternative parking at the top end of Apedale, off Blackbank Road, up by the wind turbines.
The visitors' centre and café were not open last year, I presume it will be the same this year, so if you're planning on going caching / walking after then you'll need to bring your own food.
