Anch’io mi sento talvolta molto debole, quando lavoro sulle dune o altrove: non mangio certo a sazietà. Le mie scarpe sono tutte rattoppate, usate all’estremo; tutto ciò e altre piccole miserie mi producono molte rughe. Infine, tutto questo sarebbe nulla, Théo, se potessi aggrapparmi all’idea che andrà comunque tutto bene, a condizione di perseverare.

Un genio incompreso

Questa cache è stata nascosta in occasione della mostra dedicata al pittore olandese Vincent van Gogh presso la basilica palladiana di Vicenza.
La mostra raggruppa una seria di disegni e dipinti dell'artista a partire dal periodo iniziale della sua carriera, i cinque anni della sua permanenza in Olanda nel Brabante.
Un percorso attraverso la nascita e la formazione di un genio della pittura. Colui il quale soltanto nell’estate del 1880, a ventisette anni, comunica all’amato fratello Théo in una lettera che ha “deciso di diventare un pittore”. L'inizio di una parabola che lo porterà, in un unico decennio fino al luglio del 1890, a tracciare la vicenda più breve e tormentata dell’intera storia dell’arte. Ma la breve vita di un genio assoluto.

Vincent van Gogh

Vincent Willem van Gogh è stato un pittore olandese.
Fu autore di quasi novecento dipinti e più di mille disegni. Tanto geniale quanto incompreso in vita, van Gogh influenzò profondamente l'arte del XX secolo. Dopo aver trascorso molti anni soffrendo di frequenti disturbi mentali, morì suicida all'età di 37 anni. In quell'epoca i suoi lavori non erano molto conosciuti né apprezzati.
Van Gogh iniziò a disegnare da bambino, nonostante le continue pressioni del padre, pastore protestante che continuò ad impartirgli delle norme severe. Continuò comunque a disegnare finché non decise di diventare un pittore vero e proprio. Iniziò a dipingere tardi, all'età di ventisette anni, realizzando molte delle sue opere più note nel corso degli ultimi due anni di vita. I suoi soggetti consistevano in autoritratti, paesaggi, nature morte di fiori, dipinti con cipressi, rappresentazione di campi di grano e girasoli.

The cache

This cache was hidden on the occasion of the exhibition dedicated to the Dutch painter Vincent van Gogh at the Palladian Basilica of Vicenza.
The exhibition brings together a series of drawings and paintings by the artist from the beginning of his career, the five years of his stay in Holland in Brabant country.
A journey through the birth and formation of a genius of painting. An artist who only in the summer of 1880, at twenty-seven, communicates to his beloved brother Theo in a letter that has "decided to become a painter". The beginning of a parable that will take him, in a single decade until July 1890, to trace the shortest and tormented story of the entire history of art. But the short life of an absolute genius.

Vincent Willem van Gogh was a Dutch painter.
He was the author of nearly nine hundred paintings and more than a thousand drawings. As ingenious as it is misunderstood in life, van Gogh profoundly influenced 20th century art. After spending many years suffering from frequent mental disorders, he died suicide at the age of 37. At that time his works were not very known or appreciated.
Van Gogh began drawing as a child, despite the constant pressure of his father, a Protestant pastor who continued to give him strict standards. However, he continued to draw until he decided to become a real painter. He began painting late, at the age of twenty-seven, making many of his most famous works during the last two years of his life. His subjects consisted of self-portraits, landscapes, still life of flowers, paintings with cypresses, representation of wheat fields and sunflowers.
