After a busy time meeting with thousands of geocachers at Mega and Giga-Events all over the world, Signal the Frog is ready for a summer vacation. Yes, that’s right – he’s packing flip flops, a snorkel, and many bottles of amphibian sunscreen, because he is headed for Australia!
You can take part in the celebration by attending this event on Sunday, January 28, 2018 from 1:30 until 2:30 pm "Down Under" the shelter in Queens Park in New West. Earn the Australia Day 2018 souvenir! Park your pet Kangaroo in the lot nearby and head over, watching for the giant spiders and all the other Australian animals out to kill you.
Activities:
Vegemite tasting - Since all that Australians ever eat is Vegemite, we plan to completely forget to bring any so you can taste it for yourself in a safe and non-gross way.
Surfing - We will be hosting the first annual Geocaching Picnic Table Surfing contest in honour of the Australian national sport. This event will be canceled if the temperature drops below 25C for safety reasons.
Barbie Cookoffs - Bring some shrimp for the Barbie. We will bring a Barbie and a Ken. Not sure how that works, but we will google it in advance and let you know.
Biggest Not A Knife Competition - Bring an object that is clearly NOT a knife. Any real knives and you will be dis-Koala-fied! Prizes for the best "That's not a Knife!" quotes. (Anybody in budgie smugglers will also be dis-Koala-fied)
AC/DC Sing along - AC/DC is the only band legally allowed to make the Australian Top-100 and as such an amazingly loud AC/DC sing along starts as soon as I leave.
Tim Tam Tossing - Open wide! See if you can toss this national delicacy into your partners mouth - or better yet, just eat them. BYOTT.
Australian Lessons - We have invited a few Australians to help teach the basics of the Australian Language. Our main instructor is even from the Australian capital of Auckland! (I bet you thought it was Sydney or Melbourne!)
Talk like an Australian - This event was canceled after we rehearsed it a few times. We decided this is not appropriate for a family event.
