Geocache Description:

Ranzan-town is located in the center of Saitamaa pref. and has approximately 18,000 population. The town has the beauty spot Ranzan ravine representing Saitama and is famous as a habitat of the country butterfly rhododendron. Because there was Musashi-Ranzan Station in the center of the old Sugaya village, the station practiced as Sugaya station in 1923. But when Seiroku Honda visited the ravine (exsisting Ranzan Ravine) nearby in the beginning of Showa, he named it Musashiranzan because the scenery of the ravine resembled Arashiyama of Kyoto closely. This became a reputation and a lot of tourists came to visit here. Therefore Sugaya station was renamed Musashi-Ranzan station in 1935.
