Migratory Shorebirds roost here and there’s information boards about the species and warnings to NOT Disturb them… (my children had to be told they couldn’t run into the flock so the temptation to do so is there) – please inform young ones of the signs and the importance not to. If you go for a wander you will find this cache has room for swaps, use some stealth at busy times.
Bird watchers come to this site to observe and report sightings of many species, regulars include Bar-tailed and Black-tailed Godwits, Eastern Curlew, Whimbrel, Sharp-tailed Sandpiper, Grey-tailed Tattler, Red-necked Stint, Great Knot. Less common birds have also been recorded here and the best times to see them are on high tides.
