This was originally called Last Orders and have decided to change its name to TGP - Black Bull then it can join the series of caches dedicated to the public houses that now closed. Int he future no one would know of the pubs existance. Such a shame how trends have changed.
Where have all the locals gone.
I decided to put a cache at the location of our local pub, The Black Bull. I can remember riding my bike into the countryside to this pub when I was younger. I felt I was way into the country. Then the urban sprawl began and surrounded this lovely country public house.
One year I brought the children here to a firework display. One particular year they had an accident and the box they were storing the fireworks in was set alight by a spark. We all ran for cover. The rockets were flying under cars. Quite a scary few minutes. Not sure if others remember this incident.
Towards the end they tried varies times to make it work but the economic climate just would not allow. It was finally closed and its fate was sealed. It was demolished and now the site is taken over by more houses. In time it will be forgotten there was a public house on the site and had been there for many many years.
I am just sorry we never got a photo of the place before it was demolished. If anyone has photos of the Black Bull it would be lovely to see them. Thank you Ben Pee Bats for the photo here.
