Geocache Description:

This is a magnetic nano cache located on the outskirts of Bishop Aukland.

This cache can be accessed on foot. There is a public car park at the entrance to the site that can be used for a cache and dash.

This site is a part of the regeneration project of Bishop Auckland. Started in 2015, these plans have included conservation work on Bishop Auckland castle to open it up to the public, a redeveloped 17th century walled garden and an open air show.

Whilst you are in the area, why not take in some of the areas most nomtable features such as the Newton Cap Viaduct that you have just crossed; Dating back to 1857, this viaduct was originally built as part of the North Eastern Railway line, but was closed in 1968 and converted to a footbridge and later a road bridge. This structure towers 100ft over the river and makes a scenic backdrop for the castle.

Please take care when removing this cache as the road across the viaduct is busy. Stick to the pedestrian footpath - there is no need to cross the road.
