Il Santuario Mariano di Santa Maria alla Fontana - L'acqua miracolosa
La chiesa di Santa Maria alla Fontana è un santuario mariano di Milano, sito in piazza Santa Maria alla Fontana.
Secondo una tradizione fu Carlo II d'Amboise governatore di Milano nel periodo di Luigi XII di Francia, dopo essere stato guarito dall'acqua della fonte già famosa per le proprietà taumaturgiche posta in quel luogo, a volere nel 1507 l'istituto; qui potevano essere trasportati "li richi che forse de ogni negritudine vorano essere curati".
Secondo un’altra tradizione, il santuario fu fatto costruire in questa posizione per via della guarigione di tre bambini francesi, a seguito della visione della Madonna.
Il progetto della chiesa fu a lungo attribuito a Leonardo da Vinci - ma anche a Bramante e a Cristoforo Solari per la presenza di elementi architettonici ispirati dai monumenti classici - fino a che nel 1982 l'archivista Grazioso Sironi ritrovò e pubblicò un contratto del 17 marzo 1508 in cui l'architetto Giovanni Antonio Amadeo appare come il vero progettista ed esecutore.
Nel 1922 la chiesa superiore fu pesantemente trasformata, soprattutto nella facciata, da una ricostruzione operata dagli architetti Griffini e Mezzanotte.
Già il Cesariano nel Cinquecento indicava Santa Maria alla Fontana come una delle tre strutture sanitarie principali a Milano, insieme alla Ca' Granda e al Lazzaretto.
Già convento, nel 1787 fu convertita in una parrocchia ricavando il suo territorio da una porzione dei Corpi Santi di Porta Comasina.
Nei tempi antichi l'acqua prodotta da una fonte sotterranea alla base del santuario era considerata taumaturgica e indicata per curare in particolare disturbi dell'apparato osteo-articolare come artrosi e artriti.
Nel XIX secolo, a causa dell'incendio di un'attigua fabbrica di bitume, la falda acquifera originaria si inquinò e la fonte venne chiusa; dagli 11 ugelli presso la chiesa oggi fuoriesce comune acqua di rubinetto proveniente dall'impianto idrico dell'acquedotto cittadino.
Nel retro della chiesa potrete apprezzare una BELLISSIMA vista del colonnato e dell'adiacente parco (apertura in orario diurno). Proprio in questa zona dorme una camo-cache dedicata a questa bellissima Chiesa

The church of Santa Maria alla Fontana is a Marian shrine in Milan, located in Piazza Santa Maria alla Fontana.
According to a tradition it was Charles II d'Amboise governor of Milan in the period of Louis XII of France, after having been healed by the water of the source already famous for the miraculous properties placed in that place, to want in 1507 the institute; here they could be transported "requests that perhaps of every negritude want to be cured".
The project of the church was long attributed to Leonardo da Vinci - but also to Bramante and Cristoforo Solari for the presence of architectural elements inspired by classical monuments - until in 1982 the archivist Grazioso Sironi found and published a contract dated March 17, 1508 in which the architect Giovanni Antonio Amadeo appears as the true designer and executor.
In 1922 the upper church was heavily transformed, especially in the façade, by a reconstruction by the architects Griffini and Mezzanotte.
Already the Cesariano in the sixteenth century indicated Santa Maria alla Fontana as one of the three main health facilities in Milan, together with Ca 'Granda and Lazzaretto.

In ancient times the water produced by an underground source at the base of the sanctuary was considered thaumaturgical and indicated to treat in particular disorders of the osteo-articular apparatus such as arthrosis and arthritis. In the nineteenth century, due to the fire of a nearby bitumen factory, the original groundwater was polluted and the source was closed; from the 11 nozzles at the church today comes out common tap water coming from the water system of the city aqueduct.
