Anyone who has found our other anniversary caches, would know that there is an 'M' theme with the first 3. Then we advanced to 'P'....this year its S...seems the M theme has gone by the wayside and we are moving through the alphabet...who knows where next year will be!
Australia Day 2018 and we are camping at Stansbury for the long weekend, although as we recently upgraded our camper trailer to a Caravan we can't really call it camping...lets say Glamping! It's our Fifth Anniversary of Geocaching. We found our first cache 'Where is Oz Mega 2014 - Nuriootpa' on 26th January 2013. From then on....well, we were hooked. In our first year we found 643, In our second year we found 920. Our third year had us find 736, not a bad effort considering we didn't cache properly for about 6 months as we were renovating a house, in our fourth year we found 851. Last year was a very busy year for us. We sold our house, moved into the one we renovated the previous year, went to the Red Centre Event in Alice (Our first trip to the NT), got into Caravaning, and had to work! Sadly with all this going on, Caching took a bit of a hit with only 461 found. Each year though, we meet more fantastic people who we are privileged to be able to call friends and we have seen even more of this stunning country, which we would have missed out on if a cache had not taken us to them.
We picked this location for our Anniversary Cache as it's just out of town and has awesome views across the Gulf. The access track has a gate (WP1) that must be closed after you have gone through. A short distance along there is a parking bay (WP2). Here you can read the information board about the Chalk Mines. An easy walk down to the beach but please be careful approaching GZ as the pebbles are loose and slippery hence the higher than average Terrain rating. This is also a popular place for Crabby Muggles, that's Muggles going crabbing, not Muggles who are annoyed...Just after placing the cache, 4 carloads pulled up! The cache should be a reasonably easy find and has enough room for a few swaps and TB's. It contains a log, one of our pencils, and a few bits of swag. Please replace exactly as found and replace the camo as well.
