[En] Wow what is it ? How was it made ?

When you first arrive to the Carpentry, even from the parking lot you will scratch your head and ask your self is it really made of stone? Well the answer is YES.

The hill that is made of sand stone, that was penetrated by hot magma (entering  from the earth’s crest). The hot magma melted the sand stone and created a big huge malted mixture that started to expand. Once this rock/mixture started to cool down, it started to shrink and due to different pressures and weak points it also started to crack. This is a less rare phenomena but why do we see this unique structures you may ask? Well during the rock melting phase a rock formation called quartzite, which forms if the sand stone contains enough quartz, that also gives it the exclusive geometry we usually encounter with pure quartz crystals.

This is a great explanation, but why did so many of them are scatter around and not standing up ?

Great question, the reason for that is that the magma also pushed other minerals (or brought with it) that turned into other formation such as soft kaolinite, which couldn’t sustain the pressure of the harder rocks and that is way so many are scattered around and not standing up. But if you look carefully climbing up you will see several areas with standing up rocks.

Well answer these questions:

1. What are the colors of the rocks? I said they contain quartz are they white? If not why ?

2. Do you see more rocks at the top or at the bottom ?

3. At the top of the hill what is the altitude of your GPS (Or tell me how many steps you need to climb to the top )

כשרק תגיעו למנסרה, אפילו ממגרש החנייה תגרדו את הראש ובטח תשאלו את עצמכם האם זה בעמת עשוי מאבן? התשובה היא כן !

הגבעה עשויה מאבן חול, אשר מגמה רתחת ממעמקי כדור הארץ חדרה עליה. המגמה הרותחת המיסה את אבן החול ויצרה תערובת\ גוש גדול וחם שהחל להתפשט. עם הזמן הגוש התקרר, התכווץ ובגלל לחצים ובנקודות חולשה החלו להיווצר סדקים בסלע. טוב אתה לא מחדש לנו הרבה למה המבנה המיוחד הזה נוצר?

ובכן בתהליך ההמסה של אבן החול, נוצר מבנה סלע הנקרא קוורציט, שנוצר בדר"כ אם אבן החול מכילה גם מספיק קוורץ. הקוורץ או יותר נכון הקוורציט נותן לסלע את המבנה הגאומטרי היחודי הזה שבד"כ אנו רגילים לראותו בגבישי קוורץ טהורים.

אחלה הסבר, אבל למה כל הגבישים האלו מפוזרים סביב ולא זקורים ?

שאלה מצויינת כי יש לי תשובה. כשהמגמה חדרה לאבן החול היא דחפה וסחבה איתה עוד מינרלים שבתהליך ההתקררות יצרו מבנים נוספים רכים יותר, כמו למשל קוולין, שלא עמדו במשקל של הסלעים הכבדים והתמוטטו ולכן אבנים כו רבות מפוזרות סביב ולא זקורות. אבל אם תסתכלו היטב תראו גם מבנים זקורים.

1.מה הצבעים של האבנים? אמרתי שהן מכילות קוורץ האם הן לבנות? אם לא למה?

2. האם יש יותר סלעים על ראש הגבעה או למרגלותיה ?

. בראש הגבה מה הגובה שלכם מעל פני הים (לפי הGPS) או לחילופין כמה 3. מדרגות עולים מהחנייה לראש הגבעה ?
