Il Sasso del numero è un
masso erratico.
In geologia, i massi erratici sono blocchi rocciosi,
talvolta di notevoli dimensioni, staccatisi da
una massa maggiore e trasportati da ghiacciai
più o meno lontano dal luogo di origine del
distacco e depositati quando il ghiacciaio che li
ha mossi è scomparso o si è ritirato.
Questo masso in particolare, è considerando uno dei più grossi del territorio lariano.
Le rocce si possono dividere in tre tipologie fondamentali:
Rocce magmatiche (o ignee): sono prodotte dalla solidificazione del magma fuso generato dalle profondità della Terra. A secondo della velocità di raffreddamento queste rocce possono avere una struttura vetrosa generalmente omogenea oppure possono presentare dei cristalli generalmente senza un orientamento particolare se il raffreddamento è stato lento.
Rocce sedimentarie: sono prodotte per sedimentazioni di particelle, detriti o frammenti organici o inorganici, e in seguito consolidati dalla presenza di una sostanza cementante. Alcune di queste presentano delle stratificazioni ben definite.
Rocce metamorfiche: sono rocce magmatiche o sedimentarie che sono state portate in condizioni di pressione e temperatura diverse da quelle della loro formazione per cui la roccia subisce una metamorfosi che ne altera l'aspetto e la composizione chimica.

In geology, erratic boulders are rocky blocks,
sometimes of considerable size, detached from
a larger mass and transported by glaciers
more or less far from the place of origin of the
posting and deposited when the glacier is there
has moved has disappeared or has retired.
This boulder in particular is considered one of the largest of the Larian territory.
The rocks can be divided into three basic types:
Magmatic (or igneous) rocks: they are produced by the solidification of the molten magma generated by the depths of the Earth. Depending on the rate of cooling these rocks may have a generally homogeneous glass structure or may present crystals generally without a particular orientation if the cooling has been slow.
Sedimentary rocks: they are produced by sedimentation of particles, debris or organic or inorganic fragments, and subsequently consolidated by the presence of a cementing substance. Some of these have well-defined layers.
Metamorphic rocks: they are magmatic or sedimentary rocks that have been brought under pressure and temperature conditions different from those of their formation for which the rock undergoes a metamorphosis that alters its appearance and chemical composition.
