This is a Wherigo Geocache. You'll need to use either a GPS unit or smartphone with suitable App to run this Wherigo Cartridge, which will guide you to the physical cache. It's NOT inside Fort Clonque (near the given co-ords) but it IS on Alderney!
Set in March 2018 to mark 13 cachers taking over Fort Clonque for a week's caching holiday. In turn, this was inspired by a caching trip to Alderney in 2014, when I visited this cache...
The cache is not at the given co-ords, which are at a tidal location with public access - if you behave! This is Fort Clonque - perhaps Alderney's most photographed fort. Set as the first Wherigo in the Baliiwick of Guernsey, this is actually a simple cache to find, in theory...
The physical cache location aka GZ or the Final is close to a pathway. There is no need to bushwack or go anywhere private/dangerous to locate it. If you think you need to be in the sea at any point, you've made a serious error. There's no need to swim to get to this cache.
How to find the container: You are the owner of a "Reverse-Cache-Box", which will tell you the distance to the final cache, but not its direction.
You can start your search anywhere in the world, if you bypass the info-gathering stage with some online research. Otherwise you'll need to visit the given co-ords to begin your quest. You will need a Smartphone or GPS device which is capable of playing a Wherigo. Others in the UK include this one in London and one at Ashridge, Herts.
The Cartridge from -Waldmeister- is available to download here. His The Reverse Cache is the original cache.
IMPORTANT: If you've previously downloaded the cartridge for an earlier Reverse Wherigo, please make sure you download the latest version before you attempt this one. The earlier versions of the cartridge won't work!
To find this Wherigo cache, it is your task to use the Reverse Wherigo cartridge (download it by clicking the link above) which will only give information about your distance to the final location, not its direction. Try to use your Reverse Cache box as few times as possible and record the number of uses in your log, if you like. All the instructions and information you need to complete this cartridge is contained within it. It can be played in English or German.
To start you will have to visit the icon's location which is tidal and not always available. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO CROSS IF THE CAUSEWAY HAS MORE THAN SPRAY ON IT! and gather info from a rock to the right of the causeway. You'll find a number on a plaque: 01?AB ?25C2D. Convert the letters into numbers and type these codes (with thanks to Liberal Giraffe) into your player:
104(D-A)A0
A7(C-A)29B
0(C-D)41BA
Take the codes with you on your quest, you might need it if there is a problem with your Wherigo player. The cartridge itself has proven very stable in use elsewhere..
When you reach the final, you will be given some statistics. Please copy an image of it or write the details into your log if you like. This element is optional! Additionally, you will get a personal password which you can enter into the Codegenerator if you select "create" instead of "play" at the start of the cartridge. Save this if you want to, so you can build your own reverse cache where ever you want in the world (Just tell -Waldmeister- about your plans!).
Please do not write any hints into your log about how and where you found the cache or post photos that might give the final location away. Thank you. Local maintenance by AlderneyGirls - Alderney resident geocacher. My sincere thanks to them! Without their guardianship of this cache, it wouldn't be possible.
