This peak is 302 meters above sea level. I formed as the result of a series of geological fractures at the northern end of the Gilboa peaks. Because of this it provides excellent views and is easily identifiable when viewed from afar. The hill takes its name from King Sual, who fell in a battle against the Philistines. The Arabic name is Tel Kulila. Jewish residents of the valley referred to it as Har Ha-klala or the "mount of curse", because of the similarity in the sound, however this is a misnomer.
Sauls Shouder, the recommended starting point for a walk northward to mount Saul peak, provides an unusually beautiful view of the surrounding.

שחור מכיוון גדעונה. מהחניון יוצאים שבילים המקיפים את הפסגה. לעבר נקודות תצפית יש את שביל התנ"ך
