Gran Canaria se producía de la actividad volcanica en la época Mioceno antes de aproximadamente 9-14 millones de años. Su historia geológica se caracteriza por un intercambio continuo de episodios eruptivos y erosión. La isla se ha formado a lo largo de tres grandes ciclos eruptivos, seguidos por períodos de inactividad volcánica, durante los cuales tuvieron lugar procesos erosivos. El resultado es un perfil muy aproximado de la cumbre al mar con una red de cañones y barrancos. Y una multitud de varias capas de roca con diferente estructura, composición y color. Este Earthcache te muestra algunas de estas capas de roca.
Vaya a las coordenadas de la lista y responda las siguientes preguntas:
- Describa las diferentes capas de roca de abajo hacia arriba en términos de a) tipo de roca, b) estructura / textura, c) espesor, d) color, e) conexión del metal que es responsable por del color.
- ¿Qué tan gruesa es la capa inferior de roca en su punto más delgado?
- En las coordenadas de la lista hay dos círculos en el suelo. ¿Qué símbolos decoran la "P" y la "O"?
- opcional: ¡Tome una foto de usted y / o su dispositivo GPS con las pirámides en el fondo y cárguelo en su registro "Encontrado"!

Gran Canaria: The pyramids of Puerto Rico
Gran Canaria emerged through volcanic activity 9-14 million years ago in the era of Miocene.
Its geologic history is characterized by a continuous swapping of eruptive episodes and erosion. The Island has formed throughout three great eruptive cycles, followed by periods of volcanic inactivity, during which erosive processes took place. The result is a very rough profile from the summit to the sea with a network of canyons and barrancos. And a multitude of various rock layers with different structure, composition and color. This Earthcache shows you some of these layers of rock.
Go to the listing coordinates and answer the following questions:
- Describe the different rock layers from bottom to top in terms of a) rock type, b) structure / texture, c) thickness, d) color, e) metal compound that is responsible for the color.
- How thick is the bottom layer of rock at its thinnest point?
- At the listing coordinate there are two circles in the ground. Which symbols decorate the "P" and the "O"?
- optional: Take a picture of you and / or your GPS device with the pyramids in the background and upload it on your "Found" log!
Note: Posting a picture is optional and no log condition. But we are always happy receiving pretty pictures.

Gran Canaria entstand durch vulkanische Aktivität im Erdzeitalter Miozän vor 9-14 Millionen Jahren. Seine geologische Geschichte ist durch einen kontinuierlichen Wechsel von eruptiven Episoden und Erosion gekennzeichnet. Die Insel hat sich während drei großer Eruptionszyklen gebildet, jeweils gefolgt von Perioden vulkanischer Inaktivität, in denen erosive Prozesse stattgefunden haben. Das Ergebnis ist ein sehr steiles Profil vom Gipfel zur Küste mit einem Netz von Schluchten und Barrancos. Und eine Vielzahl verschiedener Gesteinsschichten mit unterschiedlicher Struktur, Zusammensetzung und Farbe. Dieser Earthcache zeigt euch einige dieser Gesteinsschichten.
Begib Dich zur Listingkoordinate und beantworte folgende Fragen:
- Beschreibe die unterschiedlichen Gesteinsschichten von unten nach oben hinsichtlich a) Gesteinsart, b) Struktur / Beschaffenheit, c) Dicke, d) Farbe, e) Metallverbindung, die für die Farbe verantwortlich ist.
- Wie dick ist die unterste Gesteinsschicht an ihrer dünnsten Stelle?
