Troop 528 Cache
This geocache has been placed at the Howard County Fairgrounds and will hopefully pose a challenge in finding. It has been placed close to where Troop 528 has their weekly meetings by a former Eagle Scout from Troop 528. Enjoy and Happy Caching! CITO!
The Boy Scouts of America (BSA) was inspired by and modeled on the Boy Scout Association, established by Baden-Powell in 1908. In the early 1900s, several youth organizations were active, and many became part of the BSA. The BSA was founded in 1910 and grew rapidly and became the largest youth organization in the United States. Only 2.25million people in scouting history have attained the rank of Eagle Scout, and currently only roughly 7% of those who start in scounting earn the rank of Eagle Scout.
Since Arthur Eldred became the first Eagle Scout in 1912, the rank has represented a milestone of accomplishment—perhaps without equal—that is recognized across the country and the world. Men who have earned the Eagle Scout rank count it among their most treasured possessions. “Eagle Scout” is not just an award; it is a state of being. Those who earned it as boys continue to earn it every day as men - as the saying goes, "Once an Eagle, always an Eagle".
