The Harimazaka Cherry Trees Street was built as part of the city planned road “Kansan-Dori Avenue” by land arrangement planning in the war-damage reconstruction project. It was named Harimazaka for the daimyo’s Tokyo residence of Matsudaira Harima-no-kami, which was in this area. About 120 cherry trees were planted as one of the movements to plant flowers at the time when the slope was paved in 1960. The central part of the street is maintained as a green road and it is a place for relaxation. "Bunkyo Sakura Festival" is held every year from late March to early April.

播磨坂さくら並木は、戦災復興事業における付近一帯の土地区画整理によって、都市計画道路環状三号線の一部として造られ、この地にあった松平播磨守の上屋敷にちなみ、播磨坂と名付けられました。1960年に坂の舗装が行われた際に、当時の花を植える運動の一つとして桜の若木約120本が植えられました。中央部は緑道として整備され、憩いの場となっています。毎年3月下旬～4月上旬頃に「文京さくらまつり」が行われています。
