Nanoski sir comes from the Nanos valley in southwestern Slovenia and has been in production since the 16th century. Extended maturation of the cheese of 12 months gives rise to a stronger flavor and a harder texture. It's rind is a yellow to brick-red color and the interior of the cheese is yellowish to intense yellow.
It is not a common cheese in Canada which may be okay given that it's impact on the digestive system has given it the moniker "no poopskie sir". The cache location may help out those with such an affliction.
