You're looking at one of the oldest structures in Oaxaca. To get here you stroll (no reliable parking, sorry) through the old neighborhood of Xochimilco. Prior to the spanish conquest, the Aztecs extended their empire into the valley of Oaxaca. They kept a garrison on El Fortin, with other housing in Xochimilco. The spanish built a church over the Aztec settlement, Santo Thomas Xochimilco. Las Cascadas is built on Río San Felipe.
