Located at the highest point on the timber trail. You will be ready for a rest when you get here. Find the DOC sign "917m asl". Proceed south approx 50m and look in a hole in the tree on right hand side of track, about 150cm above GL . No need to step off the track . Take time to enjoy the forest. The Timber trail is a mountainbike ride in a remote location. Once you have found the cache you can return to Pureora a pleasant downhill ride, allow 3-4 hours return, but most bikers will continue another 4 hours riding to Piropiro. There is no motorised vehicle access to the cache. If you plan on continuing on the trail you must have provisions for camping or bookings at the Trail lodge. There is not much at Piropiro except a DOC camp. It is another 45km cycling to reach the road end at Ongarue allow another 5-6 hours.
