Okamoto plum trees park 岡本梅林公園 Traditional Cache

 

Okamoto Plum trees had been famous for viewing plum flower since the Edo period. However most plum trees were lost by a big flood disaster in 1938 and air raids during the World War II. After that, planting of plums in this area began again from the late Showa era, and in 1982 this place was opened as "Okamoto Bairin Park". Now, it is loved by citizens as plum viewing spot. "Plum Festival" is held every year in plum blossoms season. This park is on the hill, so it has a nice view of Kobe. A little uphill continues from the nearest station (Okamoto Station), but please try visiting. 
The road is narrow, and you can not go to the park by car.

岡本梅林は、江戸時代から梅の名所として有名でした。阪神大水害や神戸空襲でほとんどの梅を失ってしまいましたが、昭和の後半より再度梅の植樹が行われはじめ、1982年に岡本梅林公園として開園しました。今では梅の名所として市民に愛されています。毎年梅の咲く季節には「梅まつり」が開催されています。高台にあるので眺望も開けています。もよりの岡本駅から少し上り坂が続きますが、ぜひとも訪れてみてください。住宅街をぬける道は狭く、自動車では来園できません。
