Oberhalb von Arafo liegt einer der schönsten Barrancos von Teneriffa. Während fast alle Barrancos im Süden der Insel wüstenähnlich kahl sind, wachsen und blühen hier sehr viele Pflanzen. Es herrscht eine große Stille, die nur durch das Gezwitscher der Vögel unterbrochen wird.
Mit dem Auto kann man auf sehr steilen und engen Asphaltstraßen von Arafo bis zum Parkplatz bei WP1 fahren. Von dort geht man ca. 900 m auf einer Piste bis zu WP2. Dort zweigt ein gut gepflegter Wanderweg in den Barranco ab. Nach ca. 30 Minuten erreicht man die malerisch gelegene kleine Capilla San Agustin. Im Jahre 1746 wurde die dortige Quelle, die einzige Wasserversorgung von Arafo, durch einen Erdrutsch verschüttet. So mussten die Araferos ihr Wasser von Güimar beziehen. Nach einer Legende trugen sie eine Statue von San Agustin in den Barranco, worauf die Quelle wieder Wasser gab.
Der weitere Weg von der Capilla durch den Barranco ist stark verwachsen und dornenreich.
Man kann auch bei WP2 weiter auf der Piste und später auf einem Waldweg zu mehreren interessanten Galerias hoch gehen. Auch für diesen Aufstieg benötigt man ca. 30 Minuten.

Above Arafo lies one of the most beautiful Barrancos of Tenerife. While almost all Barrancos in the south of the island are desert-like bald, many plants grow and flower here. There is a great silence, interrupted only by the twittering of birds.
By car you can drive on very steep and narrow asphalt roads from Arafo to the parking lot at WP1. From there you walk about 900 m on a runway to WP2, where a well maintained hiking trail branches off into the Barranco. After about 30 minutes you reach the picturesque Capilla San Angustin. In 1746 a landslide spilled here the spring, the only water supply of Arafo. So the Araferos had to get their water from Güimar. According to legend, they carried a statue of San Agustin into the Barranco, whereupon the spring gave water again.
The further way from the Capilla through the Barranco is strongly fused and full of thorns.
You can also continue on the runway at WP2 and then follow a forest path up to several interesting galleries. This ascent also takes about 30 minutes.
All three caches in the Barranco de Añavingo are located directly at the footpath.
