My two nephews asked me a question the other day that had me stumped.
The younger nephew carved his initials into the base of a Silver Maple tree just 102 cm above the ground while his brother, the older nephew, being much braver, carved his initials into the Red Maple tree 360 cm above the ground.
The question they posed is this. In 8 years time, when the younger brother is the same age that the older brother is now, how far above the ground in centimeters will their carvings be?
I did some research but it seemed confusing to me so I've included my notes on what I was able to find regarding these tree species.
