Welcome to Cache #5 in our series “Mesa Park Rangers 1.”
For details on the MPR 1 series and our Hall of Fame for completing it, please check our profile page.
*UPDATE: Cache has been replaced with a micro for stealth. Hiding place reflects the small size. Coordinates have been amended accordingly. Bring your own implement to sign log.*
Our micros are screw-tops the size of a silver dollar, with paint or other cammo. If attached to a surface, they can either be unscrewed, or detached and restuck.
*This location has had a couple micros go missing, but seems to be doing fine currently. Hint is explicit so expect spoilers, please update if missing and it will be swifly disabled --> replaced.
The cache is in a secure location, but please use caution while hunting during rare seasonal rains, as the washes do exactly what you would expect - move water quickly! The trail and bridges go above the washes, and the cache location should not take you below the raised path.
This park is an example of the rich biodiversity to be found in the Sonoran Desert, with educational signage and play areas to reinforce the natural themes. The paved loop trail is designed to showcase native plants and wildlife around the desert washes - arroyos - that seasonally move water through the park. An unpaved trail takes bikers and hikers further into the park, and a short botanical trail near the parking lot showcases labeled desert plants. A playground can be found near the entrance to the park for less exploratory types.
Keep an eye out for wildlife, and bring a camera or binoculars!
Desert Arroyo Park and the marked parking lot are open from Sunrise to Sunset, or as posted.
