If you are bringing your own human-powered water craft, arrive at the co-ordinates anytime from 11:00-3:00 to put in an hour or more of work.  Those without water craft may arrive at the boat ramp (2nd waypoint) anytime from 11:00-3:00, where up to two people at a time will be shuttled across to the island by aluminium dinghy to start work.

Those who wish to have a lunch/coffee/caching break can be ferried to the adjacent island, where there is reasonable tree cover for shade and hot water, tea, coffee, sugar and milk will be available (a 50 cent koha per cup is requested).

Equipment requirements:

  • gardening gloves for handling weeds
  • spade, hoe or grubber for removing weeds
  • OR pull-saw/pruning saw or sickle for cutting Toitoi
  • kayak for crossing the lake (dinghy seating available for those without water craft)
  • gumboots for stepping in goose poop and ankle-depth wading to the dinghy
  • fresh water for drinking
  • lunch/snacks for sustenance
  • mug for tea/coffee

NOTE:  The lake is currently clear of algal bloom.

There are no facilities of any kind (loo, drinking water, tables, etc.) on the island, but these are available within the Henley Lake grounds.
