The second on the detour, it gives a fine view from the cairn out over Milner's Tower towards the Calf of Man. Lots of boats can be seen from here on a fine summer's day or evening, one might be us. Good weather will give clear views across to the Mourne mountains, really clear conditions allow the coast of the Ards peninsular to be seen.
This is an area of land where we both spent many hours as children, unbelievably we have just realised that neither of us had actually visited the cairn before!
