This adventure is based on the popular summer camp story of the Hot Pink Gorilla. You do not need to be familiar with the story to go “ape” over this exciting after dark geocaching experience. Bring your GPS unit, a flashlight and extra batteries as you try one of four trails marked with highly-reflective tacks on trees. If you are new to geocaching, please join Greene County Parks & Trails for Geocaching 101 prior to doing this program. Trails will be set up in two different parks. The Narrows Reserve will have a beginner’s trail and a slightly more difficult trail set. Russ Nature Reserve will have two harder trails. Long pants are recommended for all trails, as there will be some off-trail hiking involved with each trail. If you need a refresher or to learn about geocaching we will have a beginner’s course before you head out to search for the gorilla. Learn how to use a hand held GPS unit to find hidden treasures called caches. A limited number of GPS units will be available on loan during the program, begins at 6 pm at the nature center.
