Geocache Description:

Toowoomba’s Japanese Gardens, roughly translated (thanks google) is ‘Nihon no teien.’ Probably one of the most peaceful and beautiful parks in Toowoomba. The four and a half hectare gardens is Australia’s largest and most traditionally designed Japanese stroll garden.

It has a mountain stream, a waterfall, a dry garden, central lake, Azalea Hill, three k’s of walking paths, 230 species of Japanese and Australian native trees and plants with the lawns combining in a seamless and restful harmony.

All of the rocks in the gardens are used to create three dimensional pictures. The large rocks were placed by the gardens designer, Professor Kinsaku Nagano of Kyoto, to appear naturally dispersed in a random way.

It’s not uncommon to see artists quietly painting a scene or children feeding the fish or birds, which include swans, ducks, geese and smaller natives. Japanese Maples provide a riot of autumn colour, while in spring masses of lilac blossoms hand from the Wisteria Pergola - the perfect backdrop for a wedding.

It is a regular sized container suitable for small swaps. Happy caching.
