La Capelette de Lugagnac
Dans le pays de Lalbenque-Limogne, beaucoup d’édifices religieux ont été édifiés ou restaurés au 19ème siècle à cause des dommages de la Révolution et la forte augmentation de la population durant cette période.
On y rencontre de nombreuses chapelles, chacune avec son propre style, son propre cadre géographique, sa propre histoire, témoins, à travers les siècles, du sentiment religieux des hommes qui les ont édifiées.
Restaurée en 1859, la Capelette est dédiée à Notre-Dame des Sept Douleurs. Elle aurait été construite en 1740 à la place d’un ancien dolmen.
Le moulin de la Capelette
Le vent et l’eau des rivières étaient les seules sources d’énergie dont disposaient les habitants du Quercy jusqu’à l’apparition de l’électricité. Bâtis en pierres au sommet des collines, les moulins à vent étaient souvent recouverts d'une toiture pivotante. Très peu ont survécu au 20ème siècle.
Dans le passé, ce moulin était indispensable pour moudre le grain du pain quotidien des familles de Lugagnac, comme en témoigne par ailleurs la présence de nombreux fours dans le village. Abandonné à la fin du 19ème siècle, il fut transformé en château d’eau en 1960. Il retrouve finalement ses ailes au début du 21ème siècle.

The « Capelette » of Lugagnac
In the neighborhood, many religious buildings were built or restored in the 19th century because of the damage of the Revolution and the strong increase of the population during this period.
There are many chapels, each with its own style, its own geographical setting, its own history, witnesses, through the centuries, the religious feeling of the men who built them.
Restored in 1859, the Capelette is dedicated to Our Lady of the Sorrows. It was built in 1740 instead of an former dolmen.
The windmill of Capelette
The wind and the water of the rivers were the only sources of energy which the inhabitants of Quercy had until the appearance of the electricity. Built with stones at the top of the hills, the windmills were often covered with a rotating roof. Very few survived the 20th century.
In the past, this mill was essential to grind the bread of the daily bread of families Lugagnac, as evidenced by the presence of many ovens in the village. Abandoned at the end of the 19th century, it was turned into a water tower in 1960. It finally found its wings at the beginning of the 21st century.
From this place, on a clear day, you can sometimes see the Auvergne mountains on the eastern horizon...
