Geocache Description:

A wonderful park to take your dog and explore, this is the former location of Lyn Pond, which was a large mill pond drained in the mid 1900's (check out the Lyn museum across the road, very cool!). 'Nate' is our trusty cache dog 2.0, who enjoys searching everywhere with us, so this one is dedicated to his favourite place in the world! The location of this cache is where we climb to gain a good vantage point to make sure Cachedog2.0 doesn't wander too far following beaver scents.

Generally you can drive into the park (turn north on road immediately west of post office), or you can park on the road by JJ's Snack Shack (they're awesome!). The only times it is busy is in the evening for softball games. Muggles not that common, but try and avoid during prime softball game time, as it will be busy.

A good spot to run your dog is in the first diamond, just be wary because the fences are not exactly dog proofed. BE SURE TO STOOP AND SCOOP:)

The park itself is named after a local hero, RCMP officer Dougie Scott (a Lyn boy) was tragically lost in RCMP service on Baffin Island. Please see the plaque at the entrance of the park for more information.

Lyn (formerly Coleman's Corners) has a pile of fascinating history, and was a major way point in the war of 1812 between Brockville and Kingston. There are incredible ruins scattered throughout unassuming forest and field from mills and factories built in a 1800's boom.
Do yourself a favour and check out the Lyn Museum, website below:
http://www.lynmuseum.ca/

The Museum is open on Sundays only from the Sunday after Victoria Day weekend in May until the Sunday before Thanksgiving Weekend in October, from 1 pm to 4 pm.

The museum is also available by appointment for bus tours and school classes.

Also, for the story of the man the park is named after:

Only room for a pencil and log, it is in a Lee Valley container for keeping matches dry! Thanks and have fun!
