Geocache Description:

Boom2x rock is a rock that was named during the American War from 1965-1975. It is located on the entrance road to Son Tra Mountain, aka Monkey Mountain where quite some military facilities were located during and after the war from both sides.

The rock is said to be a meeting place during the American War for GI’s, although looking back at the various online journals it is probably more iconic and photographic than there is meaning to the actual word.

Monkey mountain had various important facilites on there mostly related to communication and its strategic defense location. Nowadays it is somewhat a safe haven for wild life that has long time been protected by the Vietnamese military that would not allow people on the mountain for a long time after the war.

The rock itself is overgrown by bush but can be seen a few meters of the road near the cache..
