This is one of several caches around the ancient village of Bonchurch. One of the oldest settled areas on the Isle of Wight, it is thought that people have lived in the area that is now Bonchurch since the Stone Age because of the natural spring in the area that supplied fresh water. There are lots of literary connections in the area, including Winterbourne, where Charles Dickens wrote part of the Pickwick Papers. Bonchurch also has a fascinating smugglers history.
Bonchurch Duck Pond is a locals favourite, but please don't feed bread to the ducks! It's bad for them. There is usually a table where visitors can purchase duck food outside the old post office for 50p.
You might need tweezers. Please remove ONLY the log book from the cache - don't pull the plastic container out.
