[RO] Podul Traian. Podul Traian din Arad, construit între 1910-1913, traversează râul Mureş asigurând legătura atât a traficului rutier cât şi a liniilor de tramvai, între centrul orașului şi cartierul Aradul Nou. Ridicarea Podului Traian a apărut inițial ca propunere din partea administrației arădene la începutul secolului XX. În decursul anului 1908 a fost acceptat un proiect al Societăţii de Căi Ferate din Austria. Planul architectural al acestui pod a fost schițat de către inginerul Robert Toth din Reșița, construcția desfășurându-se în perioada 1910–1913. Ornamentaţia podului prezintă multe elemente în stil secession. La o privire de ansamblu, structura podului pare a fi compusă din trei poduri suspendate unul după celălalt, datorită formelor curbe ale sistemului clasic de grinzi cu zăbrele cu articulații de tip Gerber. Robert Toth, proiectantul podului Traian, în urma absolvirii Liceului Piarist din Timișoara, și-a continuat studiile în cadrul Politehnicii din Budapesta. Toth a urmat apoi un stagiu la căile ferate maghiare (Magyar Államvasutak), perioadă în care este foarte posibil să-l fi întâlnit pe János Feketeházy, proiectantul Podului Libertății din Budapesta. La celălalt capăt al podului, opus cutiei, peste râul Mureş se află Casa Vama Veche.
[EN] The Trajan Bridge. Arad's Trajan Bridge crosses the river Mureş, connecting the traffic axes for both cars and trams, between the city centre and Aradul Nou district. It was built during the years of 1910-1913 and rehabilitated during 2010-2011. The construction of Arad’s Trajan Bridge has been originally promoted as a proposal of the Administration of Arad, at the beginning of the 20th century. During 1908, a project-agreement was made with the Austrian Railway Company. The architectural plan of the bridge was designed by engineer Robert Toth from Reșița. The construction of the bridge took place in the period of 1910-1913. The ornamentation of the bridge shows Seccesionist details. From a far-away perspective, the bridge seems to consist of three consecutive smaller bridges, thanks to the curved shapes of the classic “Gerber” system. Robert Toth, the designer of Arad’s Trajan Bridge, after graduating from the Piarist high-school in Timișoara, continued his studies at the Technical University of Budapest and then took an internship at the Hungarian Railways (Magyar Államvasutak) at which point, it is very possible he could have met János Feketeházy, the designer of the Liberty Bridge in Budapest. At the other end of the bridge, opposite the cache, over the Mures River is the The Old Custom’s House.
