[RO] Monumentul celor 13 generali. Obeliscul dedicat memoriei celor 13 generali martiri ai Revoluţiei maghiare de la 1848 a fost dezvelit în 6 octombrie 1881, fiind amplasat în locul unui monument din piatră mai modest. Diferitele relatări din epocă consemnează că festivităţile de dezvelire au început cu un recviem, iar discursul solemn a fost ţinut de tânărul avocat Béla Barabás. În cinstea celor 13 generali martiri ai Revoluţiei maghiare de la 1848, din contribuţia cetăţenilor oraşului Arad a fost ridicat, în 1881, Monumentul de la Subcetate. În anul 1974, cu ocazia comemorării a 125 de ani de la tragicul eveniment, în postament au fost aşezate rămăşiţele pământeşti ale celor 11 generali înmormântaţi la Arad. După Revoluţia din 1989, în fiecare an pe monument sunt depuse coroane comemorative. Monumentul celor 13 generali se află la sud de cetatea construită pe malul Mureşului, în zona Subcetate. Obeliscul simplu, cioplit din granit gri, fără elemente decorative deosebite, este ridicat pe o movilă artificială pavată cu piatră şi se sprijină pe un postament din beton.

The monument symbolically marks the place where the 13 officers of the Hungarian army were killed during the war of 1848, seen as the war of liberation from the Habsburg Empire. It was completed on October 6, 1881 and the opening speech was held by the young lawyer Bela Barabaş. In honour of the 13 martyr Generals of the Hungarian Revolution of 1848, with the contribution of the citizens of Arad, the monument was built in 1881. In 1974, during the commemoration of the 125th anniversary of the tragic events, under this monument the earthly remains of the 11 generals were buried. After the revolution of 1989, each year commemorative wreaths are placed here. The monument of the 13 generals lies in the southern part of the city, in the south of the fortress built on the banks of the Mureș river, in the area of Subcetate district. The simple Obelisk, carved in simple gray granite, is placed on an artificial mound paved with stone, resting on a concrete pedestal.
