Huntsville has 3 main lakes: Lake Vernon, Fairy Lake and Penninsula Lake (aka Pen Lake). When most people in Huntsville talk about the beautiful views overlooking the lake they often think of the view from Lion's Lookout with spectacular views of Fairly Lake and downtown Huntsville (Mobbed by a Lion - GC6M2JN). However, there have been many evenings when spectacular sunsets over Lake Vernon have been viewed from this vantage point. The bright floodlights from the nearby Home Depot have also been used as a navigational beacon by boaters at night on Lake Vernon (you can actually see the "Home Depot" sign from Big Island halfway down Lake Vernon).
