This is a simple field puzzle. Follow the stages below inside the library to find the hide. Placed with approval of the library director Janet.
Plenty of swag for kids AND adults, so please bring something and swap fair.
Normal library hours:
M-W 10-8
Th-Sat 10-5
CLOSED SUNDAYS.

Please do not engage the staff unless you are truly stumped at what is needed at one of the stages. The reference librarian can help you retrace your steps if your call number seems wrong. Ask if George is around. He's the CO. :-)
INSTRUCTIONS: Complete the eight stages below to build a “call number” location of a book on the library shelves. You will be collecting both numbers AND letters. Grab a piece of scratch paper or use the Notes app on your phone. Please note the decimal between positions six and seven.
Stage 1, at the posted coordinates: Read the plaque mounted to the wall just to the right of the library entrance. Notice the first group of names at the top. Two men have the same first name. Use the first letter of their name for position #8 of your call number.
Stage 2. Walk through the lobby and into the library next to the checkout desk. You’ll notice that in front of you, a bit to the left, are two huge rectangular pillars with signs that say "Look up ______, ______, and ______." From the second word, use the FIFTH letter for position #2 of your call number.
Stage 3. Just above that sign is a red and white sign. Subtract one from the number of letters in its first word for position #6.
Stage 4. If you continue onto the library's main central floor, you will see in the distance to your left another pair of large pillars. WALK BETWEEN THEM. There are five more framed historical photos. Find the one of the old fire house. Use the first letter of the first word on the photo in position #3.
Stage 5. Now walk back out onto the main floor. The DVD shelves will be at your left. Ahead of you will be a third set of those large pillars. Walk to the far side of them. Mounted on their far side is a dark, glossy sign with white capital letters. Add the number of letters in its words for position #4.
Stage 6. Turn around and look at the opposite wall. How many camera-like smoke detectors do you see mounted? Yep, they aren't cameras. They are vintage 1973 infrared optical beam smoke detectors! Use the number of them for position #7.
Stage 7. Finally, visit the fourth set of large pillars, to the right of these non-cameras. There are more old-timey photos on the left one. Find the picture of the grocery store. Use the number of letters in the name of the store for position #5.
Stage 8. You can probably figure out the final letter you need without doing this stage, but if not, walk between the pillars and on the wall ahead of you and to the right you will see eight pretty, framed Glendora orange crate label ads from the early 20th Century. Find one with "Farms" in the brand name. Use the first letter of the first word in the brand name for position #1.
Now you have the complete call number! The first three tell you which section of library shelves to search, and the last five direct you where ON the shelf to look. Good luck!
If Muggles notice your activity and ask what you are doing, please tell them "a Glendora history project" or something. This is not the cache for teaching Muggles about geocaching, as the container is likely to disappear. Thank you.
In the log book or your online log, feel free to leave an anecdote about this library or about a favorite library in your past. I bet you have one.
