Geocache Description:

BASSORIDGE TROLLEY SYSTEM

Many years ago, this entire area was part of the extensive Basso empire. You should have seen it back then! Everywhere you looked, there were Basso trolleys running to and fro. It was a grand time!

Squire Basso was anxious about the spiritual welfare of his employees, so he built the "Basso Drive-thru Chapel and Meditation Center" nearby. This site marks the exact location of this popular spiritual retreat.

The clergyman in charge of the flock was "Father Dom." He was a good and kindly man, who genuinely cared about all those working on the trolleys.

Father Dom

Well, to make sure everyone attended service, Dom and the Squire arranged for the trolleys to go right through the chapel, but very slowly, so the riders could sing a few hymns, and have time to get their offerings ready. The trolley would automatically speed-up if Father Dom's sermon was dragging.

The offerings were collected via one of those air "pneumatic tube" systems. The trolley rider would place his donation inside a tube, then it would be sucked out, and transported to Bassoville HQ. Just like the old bank drive-thru teller systems.

Well, one day, one of the air-pneumatic tube system failed, and one of the offerings were lost forever. Can you help us find it? The donor is still hoping to get a tax write-off for his donation. (You can keep half of the offering as a reward.)

BTW, I hear that Father Dom still lives in the area, but hardly rides the trolley anymore. If you see him, say "Hi."
