This is one of a short series of puzzle caches that are developed around some wordplay. I will provide some step by step directions that should make it pretty straightforward, but take care because the work involved can be tedious.
Step One: Do some on-line research about the English band XTC. Find the lyrics to a song by the band XTC that refers to a super hero in the song title. In those song lyrics, look for a reference to a super hero iconic location. For that location, select the word that uses 8 unique letters.
Step Two: You are going to assign a numeric value to each one of those 8 letters in the word from Step One. We are going to assign a value to every letter in the alphabet, where A = Zero and Z = 25. For example, the word MASK would have the following values: 12 - 0 -18 - 10. So now you should have 8 unique values for your word from Step One.
Step Three: Perform the following calculations to get the 10 digits needed for the cache location, where "1L" refers to the numeric value of the first letter (for the example MASK, "1L" = 12, then "2L" = 0, etc):
#1: 5L - 2L;
#2: 6L - 1L;
#3: 3L - 8L;
#4: 2L - (2 (7L + 8L) ) ;
#5: 5L - 1L ;
#6: 6L - 6L ;
#7: 5L - 3L ;
#8: 8L - 7L ;
#9: 6L - 1L ;
#10: 6L - 3L .
Your answer will be: N 38 XX.XXX W 077 XX.XXX
