Geocache Description:

This is an opportunity to visit and help clean up the lake and its shoreline in a unique atmosphere.

Bring your canoe, kayak, or motorized boat to participate in this event.

We will meet at the given parking coordinates. We will start at 10:00 a.m. and finish at noon.

If you finish later, we will still be able to collect your trash until 1:00 p.m.

There is a speed limit on the lake of 5 mph.

We will be asking each person to sign in with the number of persons and type of boat. Please note if you will have room in your boat for an extra person when logging your attendance.

We will also be asking each person to sign out with (hopefully) the same number of people and type of boat that they started with.

This is a safety precaution due to the unusual circumstances of the event.

As is customary, all cache/ trash seekers hold harmless the hosts of the event and assume all risks and responsibilities involved in seeking the cache/ trash.

We will be meeting at the west boat ramp to disperse around the lake to collect trash that has gotten into this beautiful lake. A person will direct you to the appropriate boat launch area and also help relay your vehicle to an offsite location to allow others to get their boats into the water.

This is a public area where there may be other persons (not associated with the event). We want to make it easy for them to enjoy the lake too.

Please bring safety equipment such as life jackets and tie ropes for the bow of your boat. Some of the trash is stuck in the brush and blackberries along primitive shores of the lake. The ability to tie your craft to something may make it easier to retrieve caught trash. Other items to consider would be a hand clippers, trash grabber, trout net, hoe or potato fork (with tines covered with tubing), twine or rope. Also, you may want to bring gloves and wear appropriate gear for the brush and weather.

You will need to bring your own snacks and drinking water.

The Washington State Department of Fish & Wildlife and Dept. of Ecology will be providing us with 100 bags and some disposable gloves. We will be bringing several trucks for the trash to be collected into. We will be providing some twine for tying off the bags to be towed into the launch/ collection points.

There are plenty of caches around the lake to find. If your vehicle is parked off site, the relay system will not be able to get you back to your vehicle if you are later than 2:30 p.m. After that time you will need to make your own special arrangements to get transportation back to your vehicle.
