Goofus and Gallant decided to search for a geocache. In order to avoid a long hike, they decided to walk across the railroad trestle which spanned the river.
When they were 3/8th of the way across the bridge they saw the train coming. They knew they were in trouble and started to run. Goofus and Gallant ran like chickens, one in the direction of the cache and the other, back the way they had come toward the oncoming train.
As fate would have it, they both cleared the ends of the bridge just in the nick of time and lived to tell the tale.
