Sir Winston Leonard Spencer-Churchill (1874-1965), brittisk politiker, författare, officer. Brittisk premiärminister 1940-1945 och 1951-1955. Minst lika känd för den karaktäristiska cigarren och alkoholkonsumtionen, som för de inspirerande tal han höll i parlamentet under andra världskriget. Tal som samlade och styrkte ett pressat Storbritannien under svåra stunder, och som ofta skrevs om och ändrades i sista minuten. Nedan följer ett utdrag ur ett av många klassiska tal, som hölls i underhuset i juni 1940:
