Geocache Description:

THE (Short) STORY

This cache is appropriately named after the area of the forest you'll be venturing through. You'll notice the remains of scorched trees and earth… from what I can only assume was a controlled burn.  I typically don't explore this side of Chimney Rock but noticed a stream and several small waterfalls that I never knew where there. I wanted to check it out. Once I got up here, I realized this was the perfect place to hide a cache. There is a ton of GPS bounce up here. I'll be a thorough as I can and provide a few pics for reference. UPDATE: You can also access this cache from the Miller Lane parking area. This is an easier hike terrain wise. I've adjusted the terrain/difficulty to reflect multiple approaches to GZ.

THE CACHE

Camo’d medium-sized Tupperware container. Please place the cache back exactly as you found it; with equal or better natural camo to maintain its difficulty. Leave the rocks BEHIND the container. They're there so you don't have to reach too far inside to grab it. FTF Prize is a Cabella’s mini-multi tool. It’s orange…because Fire. (I wanted to make it decently worthwhile.)

LOG ONLY BRING A PEN OR STAMP! Please leave only the log in the Ziplock bag. The container is large enough for some swag and TBs.

THE TERRAIN

Make sure you're wearing decent footwear with solid ankle support and have a bottle of water with you. You’ll be ascending up the side of this mountain…then a slight descent over some loose rocks. You’ll also be going off trail for the last 20-25 yards (this is where the D5/T5 comes into play.) Start at Trailhead C (I left a waypoint for you) proceed down the path and you’ll eventually get to a fork. This is the yellow trail. You want to stay to the left and cross over the small, wooden bridge. Stay to the left again and walk along the trail next to the stream. There are several trails marked yellow; they all intersect at some point. You'll want to focus on consistently going up. While on the trail, you'll come to 3 trees that you have to walk between. (see pic 1) Once you get here, you have to go off trail. From this spot, you have a clear view of the GZ. (see pic 2) You will want to cautiously make your way down the rocks. You don't have to go that far off the trail. The cache is located deep within a place that is fitting of its namesake.
