St Helena Power Station was constructed by the Public Works and Services department and opened by His Excellency Governor Baker on 7th March 1986. Until the late 1990's it supplied all of the island's electricity needs but now with healthy levels of renewable energy provided by wind and solar the output is lower although it remains the source of firm generation capacity.
Access to the cache is easy with parking adjacent, the walk from Jamestown via Mundens is quite pleasant and for the more energetic a brisk walk up Field Road gives oportunity to find the Top Guns cache before descending to Mundens and back to Jamestown.
It is quite a sneaky cache and there is no need to pass through the gate to the power station.
