Jonesville is a thriving city that embraces the future while respects its past.
This cache gives a fond remembrance to a simpler time when area youth sought out Ed Copeland's "Popcorn Stand" which was located on the corner of US12 (Chicago Street ) and Evans St.
The Ellsworth family ran the popcorn stand before Ed Copeland took it over. Popcorn, jawbreakers, gum, pop, etc., etc. Area youth had it SO good back in the day .. their teeth maybe not so much. A hot dog, a root beer and a bag of popcorn for $.25 in the late '50's - early 60's.
The state forced him to close it because it was too close to US 12. Ed did run it out of his yard for a while after he had to move it.
Ed is a good artist, too. He even drew a cover for the program for the KY Derby.
Hope you enjoy your caching experience as well as learning a bit of Jonesville. Please respect the area and enjoy what Jonesville offers. There is close by parking available for the trail.
Permission to place this and other caches along the old Railroad Trail given by the city of Jonesville.
Congratulations to Grayseelou and CynJa for getting FTF!
