This geocache was created by my 5-year-old daughter who loves to hike and has a new found passion for geocaching. Our active 2.5 year old also loves this hike. There are lots of tree roots and rocks on the path so make sure you help younger hikers and remind them to look st the ground while hiking. The search begins at the North entrance to Galbraith Mountain Mountain Bike park located at the dead end of Birch Street off of Lakeway Drive. Parking is at the trailhead but fills quickly on sunny days, so keep an eye out for street parking on your way up. Head down the trail and take your first left up a series of gradual switchbacks. This part can be challenging so take your time, enjoy the interesting stumps, roots and rock formations along the way. We find snails, slugs, squirrels and have seen deer along the way. You will reach the last switchback and have a gradual incline until you reach the spot. You will see a large “X” made by fallen trees to your right. The geocache is hidden nearby. This hike is short enough for beginners but is still a good workout. Please rehide the cache so that it isn’t readily visible to hikers and bikers. Have fun!!
(For a shorter hike without the switchbacks, enter on Birch Terrace. There is a trail from the neighborhood)
