This cache is placed in Stowe's Cady Hill Forest, first acquired by the Stowe Land Trust and now owned by the town of Stowe.
On October 30 2017, a ferocious microburst blew through the area, flattening pines and scattering debris over the forest floor. The trails were declared off limits until early May 2018, after the area was logged and volunteers put in a lot of hard work. Now that a good number of trails are open, I took a walk through the area to see which of my former archived caches I could find. My cache "Whew!" (GC4BQCR) was right where I'd previously hidden it, untouched by the storm. I decided to make a totally different type of hide.
The container is a small camoed item, larger than a nano, smaller than a micro. BYOP. Enjoy the view of Mt. Mansfield from the cache. There are several ways to get there. See the map I've provided in the image gallery. The closest parking is at the Macutchan Forest trailhead parking. It is a bit of a longer walk from the Cady Hill substation trailhead, although the vertical climb is no tougher.
