Parcul Plevnei, cunoscut şi sub denumirea de Parcul Gheorghe Doja, este considerat unul dintre cele mai cochete locuri verzi din Timişoara. Acesta se află într-un loc încărcat de istorie – în perioada Imperiului Habsburgic, zona în care este amplasat acum parcul era considerată ca fiind una din cele mai selecte din oraş, datorită clădirilor impozante din preajmă.
Pe locul unde astăzi se află parcul, în secolul XIX era doar o câmpie virană din afara zidurilor cetăţii Timişoarei. La fel era şi aproape tot cartierul Elisabetin. După anul 1903 se parcelează terenul şi se amplasează un scuar care primeşte denumirea de Parcul Gheorghe Doja, în amintirea martirului cu același nume despre care se presupune că ar fi murit, nu departe de acest parc.
În interiorul parcului se poate admira statuia de bronz a lui Gheorghe Doja, realizată în 1957, care aminteşte de eroul ce a condus răscoala ţărănească din 1514.
Acum, locul este o oază de liniște şi verdeaţă, departe de traficul aglomerat al oraşului. Înconjurat de coloane şi scări de piatră, parcul este împrejmuit şi de multe flori şi arbori. Locul este perfect pentru relaxare, dar şi pentru distracția celor mici care adoră să se joace printre băncuţe şi alei.

Plevnei Park, also known as Gheorghe Doja Park, is considered one of the most chic green places in Timisoara. It is in a place full of history - during the Habsburg Empire, the area where the park is now located was considered one of the most exclusive in the city due to the imposing buildings nearby.
On the site of the park today, in the nineteenth century it was only an empty field outside the walls of Timisoa, so was the entire Elisabethin neighborhood. After 1903, works begin and a square is named after Gheorghe Doja, in memory of the martyr with the same name that he is supposed to have died, not far from this park.
Inside the park you can admire Gheorghe Doja's bronze statue, made in 1957, which reminds of the hero who led the 1514 peasant rebellion.
Now, the place is an oasis of tranquility and greenery, away from the crowded city traffic. Surrounded by columns and stone stairs, the park is surrounded by many flowers and forests. The place is perfect for relaxing, but also for the fun of the little ones to play among the benches and alleys.
